How to Tighten the Alternator on a Buick LeSabre 3.8

The alternator on your LeSabre converts mechanical energy–transferred from the engine via the serpentine belt–to electrical energy. This energy is used to provide the battery with a constant charge, which in turn provides the required power for the LeSabre’s electronic accessories. If the alternator is loose, the belt that drives the alternator will not be able to drive this component properly, resulting in poor charging performance that could lead to a drained battery.

Tighten the Alternator

Open the hood of the LeSabre and locate the alternator: You will find it on the passenger side, near the top of the engine. With a transverse orientation of the engine, you will be standing in front of it.
