The door lock solenoid on a Monte Carlo is separate from the door latch mechanism. A failed door lock solenoid usually locks up, causing the rod to freeze in position. When this happens, it is difficult or impossible to change the manual door lock position. The door lock solenoid is secured to the door with ¼-inch rivets, making it difficult to temporarily disconnect the solenoid to allow the manual door locks to work.
Tools Used: Tools, Phillips head screwdriver, Flat head screwdriver, Drill, 3/16-inch drill bit, 1/4×1/2-inch pealing rivets, Rivet gun
Remove the Door Lock Solenoid
