The braking system of your vehicle is comprised of the brake pads, which do the stopping, and the brake rotors, which the pads clamp onto in order to slow the vehicle. Over time, the pads will wear grooves into the surface of the rotors. When the brake pads are swapped out, the rotors should be inspected and resurfaced or replaced.
