The dimmer switch on a Chevrolet 4X4 controls the interior lighting of the truck or sport utility vehicle. This switch allows you to turn all of the dash lights as bright as possible or to turn them off completely. If this switch fails, then most likely the interior lighting will start to have issues as well, causing you problems when you drive at night. To fix the issue, remove the dimmer switch from the dashboard, then install a replacement.

Install a Dimmer Switch
Park the Chevrolet on a level surface, and apply the parking brake. Put your foot on the brake pedal and the ignition key in the ignition. Turn the key to the “On” position, and shift the automatic transmission shifter to its lowest position.
